The Austin Rifle Club Annual Banquet has been scheduled for Saturday, January 31.

The annual banquet is always very informative and great fun.  Our guest speaker this year is Jeff Wentworth, the author of the Texas Castle Doctrine Bill.  If you have been to an annual banquet before you know not to miss this, but if you have never attended one of our banquets don't pass up this year!

Austin Rifle Club, Inc. 2009 Membership Renewals
(October through December 2008)

Did you procrastinate?  Non-renewed member's badges have been deactivated!  Please renew your ARC membership to regain access to the range.  Membership renewal is also required to vote at the Annual Meeting on January 24, 2009.

As most of our membership is aware, we have made a number of organizational changes during the 2008 calendar year. These changes have enabled us to manage the club better, and to insure its future. Among these changes is the movement of the Membership Renewal process to the fourth quarter of the year (months October through December).

This will eliminate the practice of having non-renewed members using the range for the first three months of every year while continuing to offer a lengthy renewal period and uninterrupted range access to renewed members.

Additionally, since our bylaws state that, “Voting members shall be members who are current in full dues, and Life members.” Only renewed members shall be able to vote at the Annual Meeting.

What You Must Do:

  • ALL members must return a completed Membership Renewal form and a signed waiver agreement to continue to have access to the range after December 31, 2008. You must do this even if you are a Life Member or have paid ahead multiple years.
  • Read the Range and Safety Rules as an annual refresher
  • Completely fill out the Membership Renewal form as well as the waiver agreement
  • Include all Associate and Junior members you wish to add/retain in your membership
  • Return the completed Membership Renewal form, waiver agreement and your dues to the address on the form.

Guest Policy - New Visitor Badges in the Stat House

By now all of our members should be aware that when bringing guests to the Austin Rifle Club, Inc. range you must sign in your guest in the log in the stat house.  As of Sunday, November 30, I have replaced the green visitor badges with sticker-type badges which do not need to be returned.  Here is the proper procedure for bringing a guest to the range:

1.  When entering the range go directly to the stat house.
2.  Have your guest sign a Liability Waiver and leave the signed waiver in the box in the stat house.
3.  Take one badge per guest, fill in his/her name as well as your name and date at the bottom of the badge.
4.  Sign the log book indicating your name, the guest name(s), and badge numbers you took.
5.  Go have fun, and be safe!

Eveyone at the range must be wearing a badge.  Please wear your badge, and please follow this procedure so that all guests have badges as well.   Thank you!

Plans for Action Shooting and Education Bays

The Board of Directors of the Austin Rifle Club, Inc. would like to show the membership our final proposal for the construction of four action shooting and education bays at our range on Littig Road. We have been discussing and working on this project for over a year, and are ready to present our final recommendation to the membership. The construction of these additional shooting bays will give us the flexibility to have education, Range Orientation, CHL classes, and much more at the Austin Rifle Club without further impact or disruption on the existing shooting ranges. They would also be designed to facilitate IPSC, IDPA, 3-Gun and cowboy shooting style matches which we are currently unable to host at our range.
Click on the "View Proposal" link below to see an image of the Board's proposal.

  Date: Tue Jan 06 2009
Sunset Time: 05:42 PM
Range is closed to shooting 30 minutes after sunset.
